I have a 'view company' form on my database and included in the form is the company's website. Next to it I want to put a button which will take you to the website which will be taken from a textbox on the companies form.
I know how to open an email usingthe 'followhyperlink' function and wondered if I could open a website in a similar way. I am currenly using the followingFollowHyperlink ' & Me.WebsiteAddressIt errors and recognises the website I want to go to but does not actually take me there.I have found many codes in which you can write the webite you want to link to but I don't want the website to appear in the code, I want to reference the 'web address' text box so that I can use the same button for various companiesThanks!!Rebecca. Hi Rebecca,The following link should provide you with the information you are looking for:In the example in this code, they are putting the code in the Form load event, but in the sample I created, I just put the code behind the click event of a commandbutton. In my sample, I created a blank form with a text box on it called txthyper and then a command button on it called cmd.
I then put code similar to the following behind the click event of the command button:Private Sub cmdClickDim ctl As CommandButtonDim txtvar As StringSet ctl = Me!cmdtxtvar = Me!txthyperWith ctl.HyperlinkAddress = txtvar.Hyperlink.FollowEnd WithEnd SubIn the sample above, I used a variable called txtvar to store the information from the text box on the form that contains the url I want to use. If you don’t want to use a variable in your code, you could use code similar to the following:Private Sub cmdClickDim ctl As CommandButtonSet ctl = Me!cmdWith ctl.HyperlinkAddress = Me!txthyper.Hyperlink.FollowEnd WithEnd SubThe sample code above assumes the text box on your form contains. If it doesn’t contain this, then your code would look similar to the following:Private Sub cmdClickDim ctl As CommandButtonSet ctl = Me!cmdWith ctl.HyperlinkAddress = '& Me!txthyper.Hyperlink.FollowEnd WithEnd SubAnother option you may want to consider using, if all your users are using Access 2010, is the built in web browser control within Access 2010. This would then allow you to display the company homepage directly on the Access form. Then when you switch records, it would update the web browser control to the url for that specific company.Add Web browsing to a form -Hopefully this information helps.Best Regards,Nathan OstMicrosoft Online Community SupportPlease remember to click 'Mark as Answer' on the post that helps you, and to click 'Unmark as Answer' if a marked post does not actually answer your question. A couple of years ago, I posted code for. This example demonstrates how to use the file dialog to return a Save-As string.
